Law is language

The translation of complex legal documents from one language to another requires not only excellent language skills but a thorough understanding of two different legal systems. Translations to or from English, in particular, often require a comparative law analysis of civil law terms as compared with common law terms.

The lawyer-linguists at TransLegal have all practiced law in their home languages and have many years, often decades, of experience translating legal documents. In addition, almost all of our lawyers are in-house staff who have worked together for years, sharing their expertise and resources – something very rare in the translation industry which is often characterised by freelance agencies using ‘lists’ of unaffiliated translators. This close working relationship between our lawyers also helps guarantee confidentiality, as your documents stay in-house instead of being sent to freelancers.

Client confidentiality

Many of the documents TransLegal is asked to work on involve sensitive business matters where confidentiality is essential. As licensed lawyers who are members of bar associations, our lawyer-linguists guarantee that your sensitive business dealings and those of your clients remain confidential.

Fast turnaround

Tight deadlines are a part of the practice of law and the lawyers at TransLegal understand this and work with you to ensure that your documents are produced on time. In-house translators employing proven routines built up in over 20 years of business together with state-of-the-art technology and resources all mean that your translation is delivered when promised.
