Who is the course for?
English for Law is blended learning Legal English course with material suitable for learners from B2+ level through to C2 on the CEFR. It is designed to meet the both the pre-service and vocational Legal English needs of law students and legal professionals.
The course is also suitable for lawyers in their early years of legal practice, lawyers with little experience of using English in legal contexts, legal support staff who are regularly required to assist lawyers in their work, and professionals who regularly work with lawyers or on legal matters.
What does the course teach?
English for Law provides the basic language skills needed by lawyers practicing in the international legal community, as well as substantial material aimed at students needing English for Academic Legal Purposes.
The course also introduces the essential vocabulary of Legal English, and includes notes and exercises on some key areas of grammar.
The authentic materials used as the basis of the course come from a variety of academic, legislative, and vocational contexts. The fields of law covered include commercial law, criminal law, negligence, comparative law, public and private international law, intellectual property law, and human rights.
How is the course designed?
