SIFAX Group Appoints Mariam Abiola Afolabi (LLM) as Executive Director

Over the last few months, Nigerian SIFAX Group has been trying to reposition itself for better service delivery. Operational restructuring and corporate re-engineering within this company have led to its founder’s daughter, an accomplished lawyer herself, becoming a new director.

Miriam Abiola Afolabi, a daughter of SIFAX Group’s founder and CEO Taiwo Afolabi, has thus been appointed the company’s new Group Executive Director, Compliance. In Nigeria, Afolabi is also known as a successful Solicitor and Advocate of the Nigerian Supreme Court.

Regarding her appointment, SIFAX Group has issued the following statement:

“Afolabi tutelage and professional experience spanned various tested legal firms, maritime and aviation companies like Kayode Sofola & Co, Wole Olanipekun & Co, Kunle Ogunba & Co, Aluko & Oyebode, Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited (SAHCOL), SIFAX Shipping Company Limited and Nigerian Maritime Administration Safety Agency (NIMASA).”

Afolabi holds a law degree from the University of Warwick in Coventry, England, but was also an International Maritime Law LLM student at the IMO International Maritime Insititute on Malta. She is a continuous learner who enjoys writing, reading, drawing, hiking, and fashion.

In an effort to strengthen current positions and open up new ones that can increase SIFAX Group’s overall operational efficiency, the company has decided to shake up the entire organization with transfers and promotions. Afolabi is a big part of this restructuring process.

Given her legal expertise and thick professional portfolio that includes leading maritime and aviation companies, there’s no doubt whatsoever that Afolabi will succeed in helping SIFAX Group accomplish its long-term goals. We wish them all the luck in their future endeavors.
