LLM Students at University of Melbourne Automatically Eligible for Scholarships

LLM students of the University of Melbourne, particularly high achieving ones who are not residents of Australia or New Zealand, will be happy to know that the University is offering 50 Melbourne Graduate Scholarships to students taking a graduate degree in the University. Eligible students need not apply as they will automatically be considered for scholarship as long as they are enrolled to the eligible degrees.

It should however be noted that the scholarship is not only open to LLM students but also others taking their postgraduate degrees in the following fields:

  • Agriculture, animal studies, food science and veterinary science;
  • Architecture, building and planning;
  • Commerce, economics and management;
  • Computing and Information;
  • Education, teaching and training;
  • Engineering;
  • Historical, philosophical, political and social studies;
  • Language, literature and cultural studies;
  • Law, legal studies and criminology;
  • Sciences and mathematics.

The University of Melbourne is currently deemed the number 1 in Australia and consistently among the two 50 best universities in the world. For the graduate students to be considered for the scholarship, they must have completed their tertiary studies, which should at least be a 4-year honors degree taken from an Australian university, and have applied for an eligible graduate coursework degree for 2018/19 academic year.

They should also be English proficient, thus the need to submit a TOEFL, IELTS, CAE or Pearson Test of English score. Students must also be taking the postgraduate degree at the University of Melbourne for the first time. Those who received other scholarships which when combined to this one will exceed 100% of the tuition, or those awarded by the Australian government with scholarships within the last two years, will not be eligible.

The 50 chosen scholars will be provided with fee remissions of between 25% to 100% of their tuition fees for the entire duration of their respective degrees. Aspiring LLM students should take note that the deadline of application for the LLM program for academic year 2018 is 30 April 2018 for the July 2018 intake.
