LLM Students Can Still Apply for the £18,000 SEERIL Scholarship Until 25 March 2018

The International Bar Association (IBA) Section on Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Law (SEERIL), with the cooperation of its Academic Advisory Group (AAG), is offering scholarships and grants to students admitted to qualifying academic institutions who will undertake advanced studies in the fields of energy and natural resources.

A ‘qualifying academic institution’ refers to any institution where at least a single member/adjunct member of the faculty is an IBA member and a SEERIL committee. The University of Dundee's Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) is one such institution. Other qualifying institutions are as follows:

The scholarships are valued at £18,000 each. It is open to LLM students, as well as PhD and post-doctoral research students. It is SEERIL's purpose in offering the scholarships to advance the understanding and development of laws relating to oil and gas, power, mining, international construction projects, water, and environmental, health and safety law. The AAG, which is a distinctive feature of SEERIL, endeavors to create and maintain contact with academics globally in order to effect information exchange on various courses of study at different levels. This way, opportunities are created, and students and academics exchanged are made possible.

Application to the SEERIL scholarship is still open and IBA is encouraging interested eligible students to quickly submit their applications as the deadline is nearing. All applications must be sent to the Scholarship Committee by midnight of 25 March 2018, British Summer Time (BST). Late submissions will not be considered. It is IBA's goal to provide the decision by the end of June 2018. SEERIL's website provides further details including application forms.
