The Florida International University (FIU) College of Law offers one of America's most affordable LLM programs. It is open only to lawyers trained outside the U.S. Those who are considering taking it have until 1 April 2018 to apply for the LLM degree for the 2018/19 academic year. The program will start in August and ends in May. It must be taken full-time at the FIU Law School's campus located in Miami, Florida.
The size of the class is limited, and the Law School has a competitive and highly selective admissions process for the LLM program. Therefore, it is wise to apply early and provide all requirements as soon as possible. For the 2018 LLM intake, the tuition fee is US$20,180. This amount remains to be considerably lower than the average tuition fees for LLM programs in the US
LLM students have the option of taking courses that will allow them to sit the New York Bar, as well as the Bar in other jurisdictions. FIU Law School offers LLM students 16 Pathways to the Profession, which could help them build a career in law based on their personal goals. They can choose to enroll in any and every course offered in the FIU's JD program, besides the ones that the New York Board of Bar examiners approved.
Applications may be submitted through LSAC. Those who submit beyond the given deadline may still be considered on a space-availability basis. LLM applicants who will need an F1 visa must be able to demonstrate that they have the funds to cover not only the tuition fees but also the living and other related personal expenses while taking the LLM program.
