Jan Dhont, LLM, Named Partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Brussels
Jan Dhont is the new partner of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati’s office in Brussels.
The leading provider of legal services to growth, life sciences, and technology enterprises all over the globe has appointed Dhont a partner of its privacy and cybersecurity practice.
Dhont is a holder of an LLM degree from the University of Brussels, in addition to being a Juris Doctor graduate from the University of Leuven.
This is not the first time Dhont has been named a partner in one of the world’ leading law firms. Prior to joining WSGR, his experience earned him a partnership at Alston & Bird LLP.
Dhont’s twenty-year-long (and counting) career started at the Belgian Data Protection Authority. After that, he served as an associate at Crowell & Moring and Hunton & Williams.
In 2007, Dhont co-founded boutique law firm Lorenz Law, where he specialized in privacy and data security and worked exclusively with clients from the US.
The European data and privacy issues he helped resolve still outnumber US-based ones, amounting to an impressive portfolio of counseling services in both private and public sectors.
Privacy litigation, data protection authorities’ investigation, and GDPR compliance programs are Dhont’s strongest suits. Today, he is one of the world’ top experts in cybersecurity law.
The long list of industries he’s worked with includes payments services, insurance, technology, retail, biotechnology, and pharma sectors.
WSGR partner Cedric Burton has described Dhont’s range of experience as “impressive” and expressed his excitement to work with such a formidable figure in the field of privacy law.
