The New York Law School (NYLS) is an independent legal institution established in 1891 and situated at the core of the legal, financial, government and tech centers of New York City. Part of NYLS's rigorous legal education is the “uniquely New York” experiential learning it provides to students. The city is your classroom.
NYLS offers an LLM in Taxation program to those who have acquired, or expect to receive, an LLB or JD degree from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school or a prior law degree from an equivalent foreign law institution. This program will refine the students' practice skills and increase their mastery of tax law. NYLS employs a unique, measured methodology to graduate tax education. Graduates of the program are ensured of career success in the areas of tax policy-making, tax administration and tax practice.
Graduates of Juris Doctor in NYLS are also given the opportunity to acquire their law and Master of Laws degrees at a faster rate through its Accelerated JD/LLM program. This dual degree is open to the Law School's JD students who intend to pursue the LLM in Taxation on an accelerated basis.
The Master of Laws in Taxation has three intakes per year: Summer, Fall and Spring. Priority consideration will be extended to candidates whose applications are completed by the following dates:
- For the Summer intake - April 30
- For the Fall intake - August 1
- For the Spring intake - December 1
Applications submitted after the foregoing deadlines will still be considered only on a space-availability basis. Decisions are expected to be provided about a month after the completion of all requirements. US Law graduates may apply through the NYLS website, while international students may course their applications online through the LSAC.
