Former Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs to Adress NYU LLM Students
NYU Law School has prepared a very special treat for their students on May 23rd. Two speakers will address students of NYU, the first being Congressman Hakeem Jeffries who finished NYU Law with the class of ‘97 addressing JD students and Ana Palacio, former Spanish minister of foreign affairs, addressing LLM students.
Ana Palacio is an international lawyer with tremendous experience and founder of the “Palacio y Asociados” law firm dealing with international arbitration, as well as commercial and regulatory law.
Few people can say that they can match her career success as she had served as Spain’s foreign affairs minister from 2002 to 2004 after which she took the position of chairwoman of Joint Committee of the two Houses for European Union Affairs within the Spanish Parlament from 2004 to 2006. Her final appointment as a part of the Spanish government she also took the position of Spain’s Council of State from 2012 to 2018.
Outside of state affairs and positions, she was senior vice president and general counsel of the World Bank Group. She also worked as a secretary general of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes.
As visiting a professor at Edmund E. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University she is honing her teaching skills and she is also an accomplished columnist for Project Syndicate.
There are few professionals out there with the experience that Ana Palacio can offer and LLM students will most certainly learn a lot from her speech scheduled for May 23rd afternoon.
