Located in Boston, Suffolk University provides its students with an exceptional learning experience. In fact, it is the only law school in the U.S. to have received top 20 rankings in all four legal specialty areas: trial advocacy, clinics, legal writing, and dispute resolution. This was awarded to the Law School by the U.S. News in its 2017 Best Graduate Schools rankings.
Law students may opt to take an accelerated dual degree program within as little as three years. This program will allow a student to take a JD as well as an LLM in Taxation.
Students on this dual degree program can take their law degree plus an LLM degree within three years for day students and four years for evening students. This is the same amount of time that it takes a law student to finish a JD degree alone. The program was launched only in 2014 and was first implemented in May 2015 at Suffolk Law School.
Suffolk’s LLM in Taxation program is likewise available to students currently enrolled at other law schools or those who already have a law degree. They will then have to take tax courses on top of the intensive summer course to gain the total tax law education required of Suffolk students who are taking the dual degree.
For law professionals and graduates wanting to take an LLM degree in an area other than taxation, Suffolk Law School also offers other LLM programs, such as the General LLM and LLM in Global Law and Technology. Just as with the Dual Degree program, the two other LLM degrees have two intakes: January and September. Both can be taken full-time (one year) or part-time (2 years). Acceptance of applications for the programs is on a rolling basis.
