Duke Law Releases Information About 2020-2021 Applications for SJD, LLM and Student Exchange
Duke Law will start accepting applications for their SJD, LLM, and student exchange courses on September 1st, 2019.
Students wishing to be among the first ones to apply for one of these programs should gather all the necessary documentation by September.
The deadline for applying for the LLM program is January 20th, 2020. Students who wish to apply for the SJD program will need to apply before February 20th, 2020.
As the primary focus of assessing the applicants, Duke Law faculty members will prioritize past performance of applicants in their legal studies. Other important factors the application reviewers will consider will be professional experience, professional and personal goals, letter of recommendation and so on. For international students, English proficiency will be an important factor as well.
Being that SJD and LLM applications will be considered and reviewed on a rolling basis from December 2019 onward we advise applying as soon as you can. This type of review process means that applications will be considered until seats are filled and after that, they’ll be closed. This means that even if you have a better legal background and performance than most students, applying too late might mean losing your seat in a program.
All relevant information about the curriculum for both SJD and LLM courses can be found on Duke Laws official website. If you find anything confusing about the application process or the curriculum you might want to contact Duke Law through their official student support channels.
