Dual LLM Degree Program Offered by UW Law and Keio University

The University of Washington School of Law (UW Law) and Keio University Law School (KLS) are teaming up to offer LLM aspirants with a dual LLM degree program. This program may be completed in just one year, during which students will spend a semester in KLS and two quarters in UW Law located in Seattle. This arrangement will have LLM candidates apply credits from each law school toward the completion of their dual LLM degrees, each one to be awarded by each institution.

As a student of this dual degree program, tuition fees will be paid separately for the LLM degree taken in each law school. This will be paid only during the time the student is taking the LLM. The time schedule will depend on each student's circumstances:

For a KLS originating student, the following schedule will be followed:

1. January 2018 ‐‐ Apply to the KLS LLM program for admission for Spring term 2018, and apply to UW LLM program of your choice for admission for Autumn quarter 2018 intake.

2. April – July 2018 -- Complete the Spring term LLM in Tokyo at KLS and obtain at least 15 semester credits.

3. September 2018 - March 2019 -- Complete Autumn and Winter quarters at UW Law and obtain at least 25 quarter credits.

4. The UW Law LLM degree could be awarded at the completion of the Winter quarter (March 2019). Because of the timing for completion of the Winter quarter at UW Law, the KLS LLM degree would be awarded later together with the other Spring term 2019 KLS degrees.

For a UW Law originating student, the following schedule will be followed:
