The ABA-accredited University of Houston Law Center (UHLC) offers a diverse list of LLM programs with Spring (January) and Fall (August) intakes per year. As the application deadline for the January 2018 classes has passed, prospective LLM students can now start submitting applications for the August 2018 intake. Candidates can choose from any of the following LLM programs offered by UHLC:
- LLM in U.S. Law
- LLM in Health Law
- LLM in Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Law
- LLM in Tax Law
- LLM in Intellectual Property & Information Law
- LLM in International Law
The LLM degrees in Intellectual Property and Information Law, and Health Law are ranked by the U.S. News & World Report as among the Top Ten LLM programs in America. The Financial Times London gives UHLC's LLM programs the recognition of being one of the most innovative in the world. Besides the accolades, LLM students will be afforded one of the most extensive curriculums, with over 200 courses to choose from.
The LLM programs may be taken full time for one year or part-time, up to three years. However, students should continue to enrol every spring and fall semester until they complete the LLM degree. The following LLM application deadlines are imposed for the Fall (August) 2018 intake:
- 15 April 2018 - for U.S.-trained attorneys
- 15 April 2018 - for foreign-trained lawyers
- 1 June 2018 - for transfer and visiting students
It would be of interest for students to learn that in October 2014, the Texas Supreme Court revised he rules that govern the admission to the Bar of Texas. Part of this revision is the rule that foreign-trained lawyers who have completed an LLM program from an ABA-accredited law school may now sit the Texas Bar.
