Located in Johannesburg, South Africa, the University of the Witwatersrand, more commonly referred to as Wits University, is a world-class research institution. Its Oliver Schreiner School of Law was founded in 1922 and has since then established a strong reputation for being a major centre for legal studies in the area. Besides the undergraduate law degree, Wits Law also offers several postgraduate programmes, all recognized worldwide.
Wits Law offers for 2018 several master level degrees and programmes. The LLM by coursework and research report is open to law graduates and legal practitioners who have deep interest and the time for advanced research. Entry to the programmes is limited.
The programmes last for one year full time and two years part time. Not all courses can be taken full time. The following are the specialized LLM degrees by coursework and research offered by Wits Law for 2018:

Applications for these LLM courses will only be accepted until 31 October 2017 for students in South Africa. The deadline for applications for international students has closed. However, there is a mid-year intake for the General LLM, the LLM in Information & Communications and LLM in Commercial & Business Law and applications for these degrees start 1 March 2018 and close 15 May 2018.
