The Program

Nottingham Trent University will award students 90 credit points for completion of Kaplan's LPC (Legal Practice Course) or the Bar Professional Training Course BPTC in London (formerly known as BVC).

In order to receive an LLM, students must attain an additional 90 points. This can be done by completing both:

(1) An LLM "top up course"
(a week-long course in June, immediately following your LPC or BVC). This intensive programme uses Nottingham Law School’s very considerable postgraduate expertise; and

(2) An LLM Dissertation
(a 20,000 word Professional Practice Dissertation) using the area of Law or legal professional practice you would like to study, allowing you to build on your interests.

Students have a maximum period of 12 months within which to complete the dissertation, working with a supervisor.
