  • an easement (=the right that someone has to use the land belonging to another) where the dominant owner (=someone who has a limited right to use the land belonging to another eg a right of way) stops the servient owner (=the owner of land over which someone else has limited rights of use) from doing something; the right to prevent something from being done on land owned by another or limiting the use of land owned by another
