The language schools listed here offer live courses based on TransLegal's coursebook International Legal English, coures which train all four language skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. The PLEAD online course, which teaches essential Legal English vocabulary in the area of general commercial law, makes an excellent complement to these live 'four-skills' courses and builds on the vocabulary taught through the coursebook.

How can your language school offer PLEAD‌?

The PLEAD packages, which include the International Legal English coursebook and a single-user license for the PLEAD online course provide the blended learning materials language schools need to be able to offer the highest quality Legal English training to law firms, companies, universities, bar associations, government departments, etc. as well as to individual lawyers and law students.

PLEAD is taught using classroom training provided by teachers at your language school with a self-study online course for your students to build their Legal English vocabulary. Since PLEAD is a blended learning course, you can offer the course comprising the following elements:

Live instruction – you can provide live classroom training using the best-selling Legal English coursebook International Legal English, developing the four key skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Online course – students obtain a license for the online course for one year which can be used for self-study purposes to develop reading and listening skills and to supplement the vocabulary and teaching materials contained in the coursebook.

The PLEAD course is suitable for exam preparation for the Cambridge International Legal English Certificate (ILEC) (www.legalenglishtest.org).

How is PLEAD purchased?

Your language school can purchase multiple PLEAD packages (coursebooks + licenses for the online course) at a group discount or students can purchase the PLEAD package directly.

As a special offer to assist language schools to teach PLEAD, language schools receive a free copy of the International Legal English Teacher’s Book for every 15 PLEAD packages purchased.

Teaching support for PLEAD

The following materials have been produced to assist teachers to teach PLEAD:

International Legal English Teacher’s Book: a companion to the International Legal English course book, it provides explanations of the relevant legal areas, guides teachers through the various exercises in the book, includes 45 additional activities and provides many ideas for discussion and role-play.

Legal English Teaching Support (LETS): a free online tool for teachers that provides summaries of the relevant legal areas and additional materials for classroom use to supplement those available in the International Legal English course book and the International Legal English teacher's book.
