TransLegal’s partnerships with leading British and American universities have led to the creation of extensive English language testing and teaching materials that are used by lawyers and law students around the globe.
Since 2005, TransLegal has been collaborating with Cambridge ESOL, a division of the University of Cambridge, in the production of the Cambridge International Legal English Certificate (ILEC), the world’s first internationally recognized test of Legal English. Cambridge ESOL offers the world’s leading range of certificates for learners and teachers of English – taken by over 3 million people in 130 countries.

In partnership with the Boston University School of Law, one of America’s premier law schools, and the Boston University Center for English Language and Orientation Programs, one of the largest and most prestigious English language centers in the United States, TransLegal has created PLEAD – the Program for Legal English Academic Development. PLEAD is a blended learning course in Legal English featuring online training as well as a coursebook in Legal English.

EFLIT – English for Law & International Transactions
Launched in November 2006 by the University of Parma, EFLIT provides postgraduate training in “English for Law & International Transactions”. EFLIT is now active in many cities around Italy, thanks to an innovative format that combines linguistic and legal skills.
EFLIT training is specifically designed for lawyers, notaries, judges and prosecutors, accountants and corporate legal counsel who wish to improve their ability to engage in international transactions. EFLIT uses TransLegal’s PLEAD materials in its bar association accredited Legal English training and is ideal for those who wish to sit the ILEC (International Legal English Certificate) examination.
