Unique partnerships with leading British and American universities
TransLegal’s partnerships with leading British and American universities have led to the creation of extensive English language testing and teaching materials that are used by lawyers and law students around the globe.
Since 2005, TransLegal has been collaborating with Cambridge ESOL, a division of the University of Cambridge, in the production of the Cambridge International Legal English Certificate (ILEC), the world’s first internationally recognized test of Legal English. Cambridge ESOL offers the world’s leading range of certificates for learners and teachers of English – taken by over 3 million people in 130 countries.
The ILEC exam is available in over 50 countries and used by more law firms, bar associations, universities and government agencies around the world than any other test of Legal English. You can read more about the Cambridge ILEC exam at www.LegalEnglishTest.org
In partnership with the Boston University School of Law, one of America’s premier law schools, and the Boston University Center for English Language and Orientation Programs, one of the largest and most prestigious English language centers in the United States, TransLegal has created PLEAD – the Program for Legal English Academic Development. PLEAD is a blended learning course in Legal English featuring online training as well as a coursebook in Legal English.
Founded by a royal charter granted to the University of Cambridge by King Henry VIII in 1534, Cambridge University Press is the oldest printer and publisher in the world, having been operating continuously since 1584. Cambridge is also one of the world’s largest and most prestigious academic publishers and one of the world’s leading publishers of English Language Teaching materials with ELT publications sold to almost every country in the world and promoted by representatives based in over 60 countries.
TransLegal has written two bestselling coursebooks in Legal English published by Cambridge University Press and, in partnership with Cambridge University Press and Boston University, has created PLEAD – the Program for Legal English Academic Development.
