Pro membership includes, in addition to the online courses and tests and dictionary, 2 hours of private instruction each month by a TransLegal lawyer-linguist instructor who is assigned as your personal tutor. This private training is conducted by telephone, scheduled at times convenient for you, to train speaking and by email correspondence with specific writing exercises through which you train legal drafting skills. TransLegal’s lawyer-linguists are all native English-speaking lawyers from Great Britain or the United States and have all practiced law in their home jurisdictions. In addition, they are also bilingual and have worked as translators and language instructors for many years.
TransLegal’s collaboration with the University of Cambridge in the production of the Cambridge International Legal English Certificate (ILEC), the world’s first internationally recognized test of Legal English, is further evidence of the unique expertise of the lawyer-linguists at TransLegal. The ILEC exam is available in over 50 countries and used by more law firms, bar associations, universities and government agencies around the world than any other test of Legal English.
Client Cancellation/Rescheduling
The client may reschedule any personal tutoring session upon 24 hours notice (i.e. each telephone call may be rescheduled twice).
Personal tutoring sessions which are canceled more than 24 hours in advance may be rescheduled. Non-participation in a pre-arranged personal tutoring session will be deemed a completed session. Excessive cancellation/rescheduling, regardless of notice time, will be discussed between TransLegal’s lawyer-linguist instructor and the client.
TransLegal Lawyer-Linguist Instructor Cancellation/Rescheduling
If TransLegal’s lawyer-linguist instructor is forced to cancel a personal tutoring session, the session will be rescheduled. If a client is given less than 24 hours notice, the session will be rescheduled at the client’s convenience and a complimentary session provided.
