The University of Zurich is the largest university in Switzerland and provides a broad range of courses and programs for both undergraduates and postgraduates. The university is internationally acclaimed as a center of education and research.
The school has over 24,000 undergraduates and 1,900 graduate students each year. The university has achieved a solid international reputation based on an impressive amount of research, particularly in the fields of molecular biology, brain research and anthropology.
The Faculty of Law at the University of Zurich is made up of numerous experts and former and current attorneys from all over the world. The faculty is known to enjoy extensive experience in international law and other organisations and is therefore able to provide specific insight into international law and analyse international relations.
The University of Zurich now offers a masters program in cooperation with the University of Geneva. The program is known as the Master of Advanced Studies in International Organisations ("MASIO").
The program provides in-depth studies concerning legal concepts and regulations that govern international organisations. It is a full-time program lasting one year and is designed for university graduates who (preferably) have relevant work experience and are interested in working with, or in, international organisations.
Several modules are offered within the master program as certificate courses, each lasting one month (75h, 10 credits). Graduates ultimately obtain the title of “Certificate of Advanced Studies” (CAS) in their respective field.
The entry requirements for the Master of Advanced Studies in International Organisations are generally set forth above in the Program section.
The program is essentially designed for those individuals who interested in working with, or in, international organisations. Relevant professional experience is not a requirement, but is preferred by the university. Thus, any prior experience in the field may be deemed to be advantageous for admissions purposes.
Prior to applying, all applicants should have obtained a university degree on a Master's level in law, economics, social sciences or an equivalent degree. It is also a requirement that applicants demonstrate the necessary level of English competence, i.e. a high command of English which is the only language used in the teaching of the course.
Tuition fees for the program are approximately CHF 27,500.
