The University of Vienna was founded in 1365 and is the oldest university in the German-speaking world. With approximately 85,000 students, it is one of the largest universities in Central Europe.
The university has a long and storied tradition of excellence within the academic field.

Like the University itself, the University of Vienna's Law School was founded in 1365 and was one of the first law schools established in Europe. Since that time, it has become internationally recognized for its innovation.
Vienna is an international city with many international organizations. It hosts an international business community, and nearby technology clusters.
The Law Faculty's building, the "Juridicum", is located in the centre of Vienna.
The LLM in International Legal Studies is a 1 year full-time or a 2 year half-time program intended to deepen knowledge of the structures of and issues in international law.
Moreover, Vienna is home to a number of international organizations and offers an ideal environment for the study of international law.
Internships are available for particularly qualified students.
The program comprises four modules focusing on different areas of international law:
-- Fundamental Issues of International Law,
-- International Economic Law,
-- International Organizations and
-- International Dispute Settlement
Candidates must hold a first law degree.
Students holding a Bachelor or Master of Law, JD, LLB, or LLM from a foreign or Austrian law school are eligible to apply.
Tuition for the LLM Program is EUR 10,000 for the academic year. The tuition fee must be paid in installments.
In addition, students are required to pay the student union fee which is currently EUR 15.86 per semester.
The tuition fee does not include books and course materials, nor living expenses and health insurance.
Accommodation / Living Expenses
The University of Vienna does not offer on-campus housing.
Students are required to have health insurance. Please apply for European Health Insurance (against all risks, including dental care) before arriving in Austria, as this is a prerequisite for obtaining a visa and later a residence permit.
