  • About the University

    Founded by the Roman Catholic Diocese of New York in 1841, Fordham University is a private Jesuit university in the United States, with three campuses located in and around New York City.

    Fordham University is spread over three campuses in New York State: Rose Hill in The Bronx, Lincoln Center in Manhattan, and Westchester in West Harrison.

    Fordham awards bachelor's (BA, BFA, and BS), master's, and doctoral degrees. Fordham University is composed of four undergraduate colleges and six graduate schools, including the Fordham Graduate School of Social Service and the Fordham School of Law.

    The university offers five-year dual-degree BA/BS engineering programs in cooperation with Case Western Reserve University and Columbia University,and a BFA degree program for dance in partnership with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

    Fordham Law has five LLM degree programmes:

    3. International Business & Trade Law
    4. International Law & Justice
    5. U.S. & Comparative Law

    Foreign LLM students are offered special courses such as a comprehensive Introduction to the U.S. Legal System and a course in Legal Research and Writing for LL.M. students in order to facilitate their transition. International students are also offered Perspectives U.S. Law (Parts I and II) and New York Civil Practice for LL.M. Students--both cover many areas that are heavily tested on the New York State Bar Examination.

  • Entry Requirements

    U.S. applicant:
    * Degree from a U.S. accredited four-year college or university or its equivalent; and
    * Degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.

    Foreign applicant:
    * Degree from an accepted foreign law school, law faculty, or law department that is substantially comparable to the legal education provided by an ABA-approved law school in the United States. Such education should meet the educational requirements for admission to the practice of law in that country.
    *Admission to the Bar of any jurisdiction may meet the eligibility criteria.

    The following are the admissions requirements:
    * Academic performance and class ranking
    * Letters of reference
    * English-language ability, as demonstrated by performance on the TOEFL or ILEC
    * Extracurricular activities
    * Occupational and law-related experience and career plans, Journal membership and/or involvement with other law-related publications

    The full year tuition, as of 2009, was $44,370. This is subject to change.
