About the University

Erasmus University Rotterdam was established in 1973, but its history dates back to 1913.

The faculties of Law and Social Sciences were established in the 1960s, followed later by Philosophy, History and Arts, and Business Administration.

In 1966, the government established the Medical Faculty Rotterdam and in 1973, the Medical Faculty Rotterdam and the Netherlands School of Economics merged to become Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Erasmus University Rotterdam, is the first university in the Netherlands named after a person, the man to whom Rotterdam owes its reputation in the academic world, Desiderius Erasmus.

About the Law School

The Erasmus School of Law offers a first-class education with individual attention and, in particular, two international master's degree programmes.

In addition, students can select from an array of courses and international postgraduate degrees, if they wish to continue studying after the LLM programme.

The School of Law currently hosts around 4,000 Dutch and 120 foreign students.

About the Program

International and European Public Law Programme:

- in-depth analysis of issues in international and European public law

- focus on developments related to the evolving public law nature of international and European law

- possibility to specialize in either European law or international law

- multi-national student body

Commercial Law Programme:

- unique combination of specialized courses in company and commercial law and general courses in European private law and comparative private law

- special focus on the influence of EU law

- excellent faculty, with both legal and commercial experience

- a campus in a leading commercial center where students can go “on-site” to see how things work in practice

About the Tuition & fees

Tuition depends on:

- type of enrollment

- personal situation: (1) age, (2) nationality, and sometimes (3) whether you receive student loans and grants in accordance with the WSF 2000 (Dutch Student Grants and Loans Act)

- the LLM programme
