How taxing is it really to pay your taxes? The reason this comes to mind now is not only is it tax season, but also because of all the gossip surrounding the multitude of celebrities that DO NOT OR HAVE NOT paid their taxes—while the average “Joe” manages to do so just fine.
Take Pamela Anderson for example. How is it that with all the money she’s made over the years that she has failed to pay $493,000 in personal income tax. According to Parade.com, Pamela Anderson, the 42-year-old former “Baywatch” babe and current “Dancing With the Stars” contender, was just hit with a $493,000 tax lien. She reportedly owes the money for unpaid personal income taxes, according to The L.A. Times. Anderson was named on the California Franchise Tax Board’s annual delinquent taxpayer list on Monday.
Commenting on the situation Anderson stated that ‘the blaming events’ are out of her control, adding “I’m not trying to avoid any tax obligation. Certain events occurred, outside of my control, which caused this temporary but embarrassing situation”.
Hmmm… I wonder if I could get away with that.
On another note…apparently, Anderson is not the only one who’s having issues with the Tax Man. Nicolas Cage has also been avoiding paying the piper. In fact, the IRS filed more than $6.6 million in tax liens against Cage last year. Earlier this month, Cage’s mansion went into foreclosure but failed to draw a single bid at auction.
