landlord and tenant law
(landlord and tenant) nounthe body of law that governs the commercial and residential property rights and obligations of an owner and renter of a real property interest for a given period of time, usually determined by a lease. It includes both contract law and land law.In accordance with landlord and tenant law, the council has served a notice on the tenant giving them a reasonable time within which to carry out the necessary repairs.
