freezing order noun

a court order stopping a supply of money such as a bank account from being available to someone and preventing them from selling any assets. Freezing orders are usually granted to preserve the defendant's assets until a judgment can be enforced so that the claimant will be able to get money damages awarded against the defendant by a court.
The freezing order has been granted and is being continued today to make sure that the assets of the company are not dissipated.
