How can PLEAD be provided to lawyers?
PLEAD can be provided to lawyers at your law firm or company using one of the following methods:
- Self-study – you can provide PLEAD packages (comprising the International Legal English coursebook + licenses for the online course) to lawyers for self-study purposes.
- Distance Learning Support – you can subscribe for the PLEAD package plus direct interaction with an instructor by email and telephone/video conference to train speaking and writing skills. You are assigned a personal instructor who provides writing and speaking training through weekly email writing exercises and telephone lessons. The writing lessons include drafting legal documents and correspondence and the assignments are corrected each week by the instructor. The telephone lessons address issues such as explaining local law to a client, instructing a foreign law firm, and negotiating by telephone. Distance Learning Support consists of 15 sessions of 30 minutes each comprising writing exercises and telephone lessons with the personal instructor. All of the instructors are lawyer-linguists who have practised law in an English-speaking jurisdiction.
- Online/Live course – you can provide PLEAD packages plus ‘live’ classroom training using the coursebook taught by a language school near you either in-house or at the language school. You can find a list of language schools that offer live PLEAD courses under PLEAD Schools
How is PLEAD purchased?
The law firm or company can purchase multiple PLEAD packages (coursebooks + licenses for the online course) at a group discount or lawyers can purchase the PLEAD package directly.
