Where’s the Beef?!!!
Blimpie’s is being sued by Jennifer Clayton and Ronald Williams, two unsatisfied customers who allege that the Super Stacked Sub is far from “stacked”.According to Above the Law, the two Illinois residents have filed a class action lawsuit against Blimpie--allowing anyone in Illinois who believes that Blimpie cheated them on sandwich meat to receive "compensation for costs and attorney fees and other relief deemed 'just and appropriate.'" The plaintiffs allege that Blimpie advertises its “Super Stacked ” sandwiches as having double the meat, but they allegedly have less than one and a half times the meat.
According to Courthouse News Service, the plaintiffs claim that Blimpie’s “Super Stacked” sandwiches don’t have twice the meat as advertised. The class claims a 12-inch Blimpie’s Best sub contains 50 grams of protein, and a 12-inch Blimpie’s Best Super Stacked sub contains 73 grams of protein, so it does not have twice as much meat…
They also claim that other Super Stacked sandwiches should not be called that because there are no regular-sized sandwiches to which to compare them.
OK, let’s break down the math – hat tip to BL1Y who took the time to actually do the math. BL1Y found that a 12 inch white loaf contains 15 grams of protein. Two servings of American cheese have 10 grams of protein. If those were the only other protein sources on the subs, we'd have 24 grams from meat on the regular and 49 grams of protein from meat on the double stack.
Oh my, I guess they don’t teach math in Illinois—because that looks a lot like double to me.
